Janus

Boyband won the title ‘Rookie of The Year’ in 2011, and a year later, the group released their first album, with title Janus. On October 31, 2012, Starship Entertainment released teaser of photos showing the concept for Janus, which referred to Roman mythology. It displayed a transformation for BOYFRIEND members, and was quite different from their debut concept. Unfortunately, the release date had to be postponed. On November 9, 2012, Starship Entertainment announced that there were constraints on album printing, where previously the release of the offline album for Janus would be released along with the digital version. Because of the packaging problem, they decided to throw 30 thousand copies of the album, and they released it on November 13, 2012. Janus was also the title track on this album. Although it was problematic before the release time, the album received a positive response from fans because BOYFRIEND presented thier new image with a more mature music video concept and dance choreography. Related to this song, Janus takes a concept from Ancient Roman style, with theme of Roman mythology. Janus was a two-faced god, where the god was portrayed by the twin members Kwangmin and Youngmin. Kwangmin was the ‘black-side’, or hell, while Youngmin was the ‘white-side’ god, or symbol of heaven. The ‘white-side’ is what this guy is referring to outside. This can be seen in the Janus music video below!

The Janus music video was created by Johnny Bros. This song is about a man who pretends to be fine and hides his true feeling for a girl, even though the man wants her to be with him, but he still hiding the truth.

I Yah

Over time, this boy-band increasingly showed they were growing up. You can see it in their comeback in 2013 with the release of I Yah, which was a new song on their first repackaged album. The song was made by SweetTune, which had previously made Love Style and Janus for BOYFRIEND. On the music video, BOYFRIEND featured the pretty actress Kim So Hyun as a video clip model. I Yah was released on January 10, 2013, and tells about a teenager who  falls in love and is chasing after a girl. The group released the music video which had a cute concept, and the song was produced by SweetTune. On & On tells about how deep feelings of longing can be so painful, even though some of them aren’t avenged. In the comeback, BOYFRIEND returned with concepts similar to the ones from the beginning of their debut, by showing their warm side and an innocent image. In the music video, the members filmed in Japan, and without using sensational or provocative images, so that makes people who watch it feels calmer. Bounce is inspired by the story of “Alice in Wonderland”, and in the music video the members look so trendy with unique clothes and make-up that’s artistic. Energetic choreography helps the song to look perfect. Just like their other songs, Bounce is about how they’re convincing the woman that they love to get close to them. To My Bestfriend

To My Bestfriend is very meaningful for their fans, who are called ‘Bestfriend’. This special song was released for their fifth anniversary as a group, which was on May 16, 2016.
